Oiling
The filling of surface-reaching fissures with oil or resin to reduce their visibility, standard practice in emerald and accepted by the trade when disclosed. Reports grade the amount of filler from insignificant to significant, and the grade moves the price. Oil is not permanent: it can dry or sweat, and re-oiling between owners is routine, which is why the grade belongs on a current report rather than an old one.
