Inclusion
Any internal feature of a gemstone: included crystals, silk, healed fissures, growth zoning. Inclusions are evidence before they are flaws. They distinguish natural stones from synthetics, carry the traces of treatment, and anchor a laboratory's origin opinion. Judge them by visibility, position and structural risk rather than by count; a truly clean coloured stone is the exception, and in some varieties a reason for more testing, not less.
